WALK.RUN.WAG.5K9 San Diego

The San Diego event will take place at the Del Mar Race Track and Fairgrounds on January 15, 2012 in Del Mar, California, located :

Walk or run a 5K or 1 mile course with your dog.

You can also opt to run or walk without a furry friend and go for either speed or dog-browsing fun on a fast and well-supported course.

Aid stations will be located approximately every mile on the 5k course

5K/ 5K9 Course

The 5K is open to all walkers and runners, with or without their canine friends. We designate 5K9 for all those who choose to walk or run with their best canine friends. The start of the 5K or 5K9 is on the south side of the Del Mar Race track. The course moves east from the start onto Jimmy Durante Boulevard and loops around the race track, with a short out and back section and turnaround on Coast Highway 101. Runners, walkers and dogs continue the route along the west side of the race track, and then turn in towards a finish line along the south edge of the race track.

1- Mile Course

The 1 Mile course is also open to all walkers and runners, with or without their furry friends. The start of the 1 mile course is the same as the 5K or 5K9 on the south side of the Del Mar Race track. The course moves east from the start to the east edge of the race track. Runners, walkers and dogs then turn around and come back west, turning in towards a finish line along the south edge of the race track

Friday, January 13th:

12:00pm – 8:00pm – Registration & Packet Pick-Up – Petco – Sports Arena Store – 3495 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA

Saturday, January 14th:

10:00am – 4:00pm – Registration & Packet Pick-Up – Petco – Escondido Store – 1000 West Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA

Sunday, January 15th:

6:00am – 7:30am – REGISTRATION and Packet Packet Pick-up available for 5km events. (Wyland Center – Del Mar Fairgrounds). You can fully register that morning or simply pick up your packet and race numbers if you have pre-registered online.
6:00am – 7:30am – REGISTRATION and Packet Pick-up available for 1 Mile events.
7:30am – Warm-up session for Humans and Dogs in the off-leash area in Wyland Center
8:00am – Start of the 5K9 and 5k Walk/Run on the Del Mar Fairgrounds area (5 min walk from Wyland Center)
9:00am – Start of the 1 Mile K9 or 1 Mile Walk/Run on the Del Mar Fairgrounds area (5 min walk from Wyland Center)
9:00am – YOGA with your dog – presented by Leash Your Fitness (Off leash Dog area in EXPO)
9:30am – Dog Training/ Agility DEMO – Carlsbad K9 UNIT
10:00am – Awards for 5k and 5K9
10:30am – Dog Training/ Agility DEMO- Camp Pendleton Marine Working Dogs

Parking:

Parking will be in the main lot at the Del Mar Fair Grounds. Take I-5 to the Via De La Valle exit. Go west to the first light at Jimmy Durante and turn left (south). Parking is approximately one half mile down on your right. Note – parking is $9 payable upon entry.
